Blog #4--

I found an editing mistake from one of my class announcements. The professor posted some information about our assignment that we need to be working on. In section number one, headlines, is misspelled and there is no period at the end of the sentence. Although it was a simple mistake sometimes when we are typing we forget to spellcheck before we press send.

In our Topical Guide section of our text book I learned about adverse and averse. To honest with you I have never used the word averse before. Its meaning is to describe someone’s reluctance or opposition. An example sentence the book gave was: I am not averse to to the occasional but creative sentence fragment. (I found the error of the to to in the sentence) “Whereas adverse means unfavorable or hostile.”

Then there was the comma splice. I either over use commas or under use them. A comma splice is when two independent clauses are put without coordinating a conjunction or a semicolon, as stated in our text. You can use however or add a comma when needed to better understand the sentence.

I need to admit this class is challenging for me.  After many years from being out of school you take for granite the little stuff. Having the assignments as a review is helping me out, but also discouraging. I am hoping with time and practice I will can improve. Learning the different verbs again in our assignment made me really think. There are many ways a verb can be used.

  1. The different types of verbs assignment was intense! It is going to be hard to keep it all straight. I love the meme.

  2. Thank you for explaining averse and adverse. I always seems to mess that one up without realizing it!
