Hello Editing class!

My name is Mallory Wilson. I got married July of last year and have since changed my last name from Gallegos to Wilson. The school system has not updated my name yet. We celebrated our honeymoon in Jamaica and it was my first time traveling internationally! Jamaica was a beautiful experience to enjoy with my husband. We love to travel.

My favorite past time is working out and running the many trails of Utah. I own two Siberian huskies that help keep me active. My husband and I enjoy taking them camping, hiking, sledding and fishing across the country. Yes, I know we are a little crazy because we travel with two full grown dogs, but the trips we take are truly magical! Last month we went to Colorado together and stayed in Fort Collins for part of our trip. The city is a dog-lover’s paradise. We also visited Denver which was an interesting experience to say the least!

I enjoy spending most of my time with family. My father and grandfather are both battling cancer right now. I spend a great deal of time conversing with them. Unfortunately, the cancer is not backing down and chemotherapy is a weekly chore. We don’t let the disease bring us down! Regardless of the regular doctor visits my family has been able to enjoy boating, camping and big family outings together. I’m working hard in school with the intent to graduate in time for both my father and grandfather to see me receive my degree from WSU. I will be the first in my generation to graduate from college! It would be a rewarding accomplishment to share with family and friends.

I am originally from Southern California, but I was raised primarily in Northern Utah. When I'm not traveling, I am refining my educational skills at WSU as a Junior. My major is Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. I am taking this editing course because it is practical in brushing-up on spelling, grammar and punctuation. I hope to gain a level of comfort with the writing process and zero-in on any weaknesses in my papers. I also hope to learn valuable skills for a future job position. By the end of the semester, I’m confident the lessons will have made me a better overall writer.

Besides focusing on my studies, I enjoy working on my husband’s jewelry, shoes and clothing line. It was established in 2014 with just one sewing machine, flyers and hope. Now the company has 12 employees, a trustworthy manufacturer and fashion shows in different states! I am very proud of my husband for never giving up on his dreams. His hard work motivates me to continue with my studies. He tells me every day that he is honored to be my husband and help me reach for my dreams as well. Marriage is a breeze when you marry your best friend.

Anyhow, I look forward to see what excitement this semester brings!
