Hello everyone! I'm a bit late getting this up here, but I can explain! I'm actually getting married in about 30 days, so I'm right in the thick of all the arduous planning and stressing. So forgive me! Anyways, my name is Kara Larsen. I'm 21 years old, a Senior at Weber State, majoring in communications with an emphasis in digital media. Ever since I was a little girl, I've been in love with stories. I think that stories are some of the most powerful tools we use to teach each other to be better people. When I was young, I always thought I'd be an author. I had one story in my mind that never left me alone; I found myself writing in all my spare time and dreaming of being the youngest best-selling author in history. However, as the years went by, I found that my story was much more special to me than a catalyst for fame, and I decided that I'd keep it close to my heart and develop my passion for storytelling through other mediums.
Consequently, In high school, I developed a love for taking photographs. That love translated into a love for making movies and composing scores. I found that all of my passions were easily combined in the field of film, and my dream was born. I've found digital media to be a perfect way to develop all my passions, and I thought that an editing course would nicely sharpen my skills with language. I hope to one day work for a small business owner and take care of their digital marketing, photography, webinars and advertising, while retaining time to do some of my own freelance writing and filmmaking on the side.
I met my fiancé in high school. We kind of have one of those crazy corny love stories-- you know the ones--paths crossing again and again, lives weaving in and out, a friendship that developed most miraculously into a binding love, etc. We're getting married Friday the 13th of October in Boise, Idaho and I absolutely can't wait! Though it will certainly be interesting to miss two weeks of school right in the middle of the semester... wish me luck!
I'm very family-oriented. I grew up the second oldest of seven children, so I learned to love taking care of my siblings, cooking meals, and keeping a clean house. Over the years, those practical competencies have turned into passions. I really enjoy cooking, growing my own herbs, experimenting with new foods, and making my own recipes. I love to sing, to act, to stargaze, to muse about the mysteries of the universe, and to take care of other people. Nothing brings me more joy than to help others achieve their dreams.
I'm excited to get to know you all better and count it a great blessing to be among you! May all your studies be fruitful, and your homework burden ever light-- Kara Marie
