Introduction Jake Bergquist
Hi everyone! My name is Jake Bergquist this is my last year here at Weber State University and I'm majoring in Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Spanish. Might as well start from the beginning so that everyone knows my whole life. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived there until I was 16. My father had passed away when I was 12, and my mother was left to raise 5 kids on her own. Three years later she met my now step-father and we moved to a little town outside of St. George called Hurricane. (It's the worst, and I don't recommend anyone move there... unless you're just passing through to go to Zion National Park) But when she got married, I gained 5 new siblings, so there are 10 siblings in my family including myself and as you can imagine, we have a pretty hectic/great time at family gatherings.
After high-school I left to live in Honduras central america from which I learned to speak fluently in spanish and also with the help of my dad who only spoke to my siblings and in spanish growing up. I came back being 21 years old and I went straight to Salt Lake City living downtown and going to LDS Business College to earn my associates degree in business science with a certificate in accounting. (accounting is the worst too)
All growing up I never really knew what I wanted to be when I finally grew up. I didn't think I had enough resources at LDS Business College to make a decision, as it is only a two years school and doesn't provide a whole lot of options. Coming to Weber State has been a great eye opener to how many possibilities there are for careers. What I'd really like to do is pursue more of an advertising/ marketing side of things in association with sports, and with sports I mean like, pro surfing, or big snowboarding competitions, things people would consider "extreme sports." I think it would be such a cool thing to be a part of big events like that and to help promote them.
As of right now, I live in West Haven, where the cows roam free and it provides quite the aroma especially at night time. I live with three of my brothers and we are sharing a house, which is SO MUCH BETTER than an apartment. I'm trying to finish up my last few semesters of school as fast as I can so that I can start on focusing on a real career instead of working at Discover Card. Although I will say that that Discover Card is a great college job, or even a good place to start a long financial career. I'm hoping I can gain some internships with them to take advantage of a fortune 500 company, to make it look good on my super great resume.
I'll be 25 here in October and I'm just enjoying the wonders of the modern age dating life.

Hi Jake!
ReplyDeleteLooks like we are on the same page here, with our last year of school this year! Also, have you ever been to the LDS BC café? I used to work down town, and we would go get breakfast or lunch from there... it is the best!!
