Hi. I am Angela Hunter and I have a whole new life this semester. My name may even change before the semester is over. The first week of Summer Semester my husband of 17 years passed away, we buried him on our anniversary. Anyone who doesn't have a will, get that done. His headstone was set this this week. Now that portion of my life is closed.

I am remarried. I married my high school sweetheart, Chris. It is fun to be a newlywed again. I learned legally I could get married on Monday, July 10, 2017 and we were married that Friday. Chris and I got married at the Sadie Hawkins dance as kids, and he made sure our marriage certificate didn’t expire at midnight. Because we had a ten day engagement and his mother was on a humanitarian mission, we are having a reception this Saturday. My mother won’t let me call it that, so I call it an event.

My husband fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a boat racer. He owns a business in Ogden. We are now what some people call a blended family. I have two children and he has a daughter.

I believe all newlyweds need to be poor so they learn how to turn to each other. On that note Thursday was my last day working so I can focus on school, and my family. I loved my job dearly and was sad to see it end, but I'm so excited for the new doors opening before me. With this change I can look at internships and other ways to grow my skills.

I just celebrated my 20 year high school reunion. I always figured that I would have my goal of a bachelor degree by this time. Life happens and I am grateful to be attending school again. I am also attending Southern Utah University this semester to make up for the classes I had to drop over Summer Semester.

My last day on the job I realized I wasn’t writing a new chapter in my life, I was really writing a whole new book. The sequel better be better than the last 17 years. What is funny is there are a lot of the same characters and an unknown future. What more does a sequel need? Ok. I know the answer to that, conflict. But conflict together is better than conflict apart. Or so the fairy tales say.

I love to read. Anita Stansfield is my favorite author. I also stalk local authors as my hobby. I hope to become an author myself one day. I’ve written a middle grade chapter book called Superheroes Save the Day. It’s about a group of neighborhood boys who become real Superheroes by calling 911 to save a life.  SUU requires all students to do a 40 hour project of their choice, to develop marketable skills. Editing and trying to find a publisher is my project that I have to complete before graduation.

Editing my own work, is not my strength and I hope to change that way of thinking by the end of this class.

  1. Hi, Angela! I am so sorry for your loss, but it sounds like things are looking up for you! I love your outlook on life and making what seems like a next chapter a new book. A fresh start and a new opening chapter is the best feeling!
