Khristie Tuttle's Introduction

Hello, everyone!

My name is Khristie Tuttle, and I am a senior studying Professional and Technical Writing with a minor in Communications. This is—hopefully—my last semester here at Weber, and I am excited for what the future holds. My dream is to save the world one comma at a time! I am planning on becoming an editor or technical writer, but I have really enjoyed studying some of the communication fields like Public Relations

From the time I was in third grade, I knew English was my calling. I grew up reading until my eyes were dry and my vision blurry, and I even have the glasses to prove it. While my strengths do not lie in creative writing, portraying and communicating information to individuals that I am not in contact with gives me freedom. I do find editing and writing to be one of my strengths, and I love taking a rough draft and polishing it until it shines. My personal writing philosophy is that information is not meant to stay in one place; it is meant to be shared. It is my love and passion for English that makes me excited to pursue this field of study.

currently work as a stylist in a small, family-owned salon in Bountiful and have been there for the last two and a half years. I absolutely love doing hair, and making people feel just a little better about how they look is so fulfilling. Many people ask if I plan on continuing doing hair after graduation, but I have no idea. It will always be my favorite hobby, but the future is still uncertain whether I will keep it as more than a hobby.  Let me know if you need a new hair care consultant!

I also work in the Writing Center here on campus and have worked there for the last two years. I have worked on many projects in the Writing Center including updating the Turabian style brochure, the MLA style brochure and an APA FAQ sheet. I am also in charge of the Online Writing Lab (OWL), so if you send in a document for online tutoring, I will make sure that it is taken care of! I have loved working in the Writing Center because it takes my skill of editing and adds the element of teaching. Not only do I have to know the right answer, but I also need to know why it is the right answer.

I grew up in Bountiful, Utah with my familyI have an older brother and three younger sisters. We are all spaced three years apart except for my youngest sister—a surprise—who is eight years younger than the sister closest to her and fourteen years younger than me.

I attended Viewmont High School and went on to pursue a career in Cosmetology before starting at Weber in Fall 2014. I love reading, making to-do lists and using the Oxford Comma, which I wish AP would adopt. I also recently watched the entire series of "The Office" over the summer, and it changed my life.

  1. I think people who aspire to be technical writers are absolutely AMAZING! You inspire me. It takes so much precision not only to write cleanly, but also to ensure that others are doing so. And, for the record, your post was written perfectly, devoid of even a single grammatical error (; Thanks for sharing about yourself!
