DENVER — The three people who died in the
shooting at a suburban Denver Walmart were identified Thursday after police
took suspect Scott Ostrem, 37, into custody. One was a grandfather, another was
a grandmother and the third was a young father with another child on the way
(AP News, 11/2/2017).
The summary lead has the who, what, where and
when in the first sentence. The online article then goes to talk about the
people killed at the Walmart. This article gives specific information to
the readers. They are making them aware of what has occurred after a few days
have gone by. The writer is giving updated information in case readers were not
aware of the situation in the beginning. It does have 46 words but gives the needed
information for the readers.
A mistake I found this week was in the Sign
Post. For one of the writers they had it written as Coresondent under her name.
The correct spelling was Correspondent. It was a simple mistake that could have
been corrected if someone took another quick glance.
