Hello!
My name is Paige Erickson (I got married and my new last name is Yocom, but I am lazy and have not spent the time to change my last name in the system so until my last semester of school, my name will probably still be Erickson...)
A little bit about my self... well, for starters, I am not the best writer, but I have been working on it, and have learned to enjoy it a lot more. I recently got a new job at an engineering firm as a proposal coordinator, so I will have to learn to really love writing because that is a huge part of proposals! This class will be a huge benefit to me, because as well as writing and creating content for proposals, I will have to edit and critique other people’s writings. I chose to be a part of the Communications program because my best friend was, and I did not know what else to do for my degree, so I trusted her instinct and it was the best decision ever! I absolutely love this degree and really love the marketing emphasis that I have chosen. I think that this degree is very broad and applicable to lots of careers.
About my personal life, well like I said I got married and It has been so fun! We love to travel and vacation, and just got back from Europe 2 weeks ago. My favorite place that we went was Brugge, Belgium (mainly because of the waffles and fries that they have). We have a few more vacations planned for this year, including Bear Lake, Jackson Hole, Disneyland/ California, and going to Boston for a Patriots football game. We both work full time and then go to school full time, so we keep pretty busy during the week, but we always find time to spend together. We love to go out to eat on the weekends and just watching The Office. It is hilarious and if you haven’t ever seen it, or if its been awhile since you last watched it, I suggest starting it. On the weekends, we usually go out to one of the few places that we love, which are Chick fil a, Costa Vida, or Café Rio. I know there is the debate between Costa Vida and Café Rio, and choosing which one is better, but honestly after having multiple meals at both locations I have come to a personal conclusion. Costa Vida has better pork and better salads, but Café Rio has better chips and queso. What are your guy’s thoughts? I honestly think that they are both pretty great though. And their point/reward systems are about the same so either way you are gaining points… I am all about the reward systems haha!
I love to stay busy and love to be on the go. I also really enjoy working out and being active. I love to participate and be a part of races, or events and when I pay money to do something, I typically am more motivated! Funny how that works, right? But like many people, I get really unmotivated, so if any one has any tips on how to eat healthier, than let me know, because I have had a few donuts this week, and I’m planning on Cold Stone for tomorrow.
Anyways, I am really excited for this class and really excited for this semester, minus my commute from Farmington to Ogden during rush hour, 3 times a week (avoid night classes at all costs).
PS. my picture that I have is from my recent Europe trip... in my opinion, the food is the best part about traveling!!
Hi Paige! That food you are holding does indeed look delicious. If you do end up stuck in traffic, a good way to stay positive is to enjoy the gorgeous Utah landscapes! I recently learned that Utah is actually a popular setting for movies to be filmed because it is apparently such a uniquely beautiful place. Congratulations on your recent marriage!
