To say that punctuation is easy is an understatement, because I on the other hand find it difficult. In learning the dash, the hyphen, the comma, and the colon. I found it not fun. I thought the quiz would be easier, but once I was reading about the rules there is a lot I need to work on. For example, when I text a message I shorten everything so I get my point across and press send. My husband will tell me that I need to punctuate because sometimes my shortcuts don’t make sense. So now with this class I need to pay more attention to that.

In another class that I’m taking, we learned this week about the Oxford Comma and in that class I need take out that extra comma or I lose points. To be able to balance the difference and know when to use the comma is challenging. In that same class after the teacher had explained about the Oxford Comma, I noticed on one of the later slides a comma was used. Then I was confused. After class I had a couple questions then I asked her about that slide and why it was okay to use the comma there? She said that it was an error on her part and she corrected it. Then thanked me for catching that mistake. The phrase that we had written down was "clarify, simplify, and condense" so the second comma had to be taken out.

  1. I agree with you. There are so many rules that I have either forgotten or need to review for understanding. I think that it is interesting that you caught your professor's writing mistake. The meme you posted had me laughing for a while. I think it is a great way to remember to have fun while doing the homework.

  2. Yikes! Good luck trying to keep all your professors writing styles straight. I have learned that some rules are based off of personal writing preferences. I also loved your meme. Thanks for sharing.
