#7 I Don't Know Much

While going over the list, I came to the realization that I believe I know more than I do.
Looking at the list I skimmed over it. My brain made mental notes like, "Yeah I know that. That one's obvious. Please don't insult me." I looked up meanings to a few oddities that bothered me, but mostly avoided really digging into the list.
Perhaps I am distracted by work, family, or friends, but I thought I was better than that list. Oh, how I was mistaken.
While taking this week's test, I learned that I am much less confident about my knowledge when I am being tested on it. I stopped, reread, and looked up almost every answer. And I still got some wrong. I learned a lesson that everyone should know before going into any class.
"You don't know as much as you think you do."
The grammar mistake I saw was of course from Facebook. My friend backed into "a assault tree." So naturally being the annoying friend I am, I corrected him with "*an assault tree." Oh how the hate came pouring in. I enjoy being the bad guy, but I felt it was a simple lesson that he could learn.

  1. I think we all think we know more than we actually do. And this class is great at knocking us down a notch (or two or three, ha). And I have learned to just not correct people's grammar or spelling. I used to do it all the time when I was in high school and living at home. My mom said it was one of my most annoying qualities, and now I try to avoid correcting people other than myself. I'm glad I learned that before Facebook every came about. I'd be the recipient of hate all the time!
