Blog #11

I enjoyed learning about headlines this week. I never realized their importance or how difficult it is to write them. I always thought leads were the most important part of a story, but the headline is also very important. It is what the audience reads first, so it’s important to have a good headline to draw them into the story.

“Mom’s Reaction to Holding Her Newborn Rainbow Baby Is So Powerful”
I liked this headline because it is written in a way that makes you want to read more about the story. I like that this headline doesn’t give away too many details, but still gives enough that it makes the audience want to dive deeper into the story.

“Disney’s ‘Star Wars’ Hiding Place For The Millennium Falcon Is Exposed on Google Maps”
I didn’t really like this headline because it seems to be a little long and hard to read. I found I had to read it a couple of times to actually understand what it was saying. I think this headline would benefit from better word choice to make it shorter.

The editing mistake I found this week is from the Wingstop restaurant website. Quoting a customer, they made the mistake of writing “wins” instead of “wings.” I was surprised to see a mistake like this on a restaurant website. I guess we all make mistakes!
