Week 13-14

A website I particularly love visiting is the blog “The Pursuit of Bravery” by artist and musician John Lucas. In its own words;

The Pursuit of Bravery is a space to recognize darkness and injustice but to call forth the light...to be a part of our communal pilgrimage towards beauty, truth, and purpose. This is a space for the collection of stories, dreams, and conversations that give glimpses of how to create a culture that gives life instead of robbing it. Our conversations will be collected through three connected and intertwined streams:
CREATIVITY, SUSTAINABILITY, & ADVENTURE.
Creativity is making something beautiful with what you have.
Sustainability is ensuring that what you have, and how you create, doesn’t rob or hinder others - not limited to humanity, nor excluding future generations - from life and their own ability to create.
Adventure is creating and experiencing beauty in such a way that makes life worthwhile.

The photographs are few but powerful. They inspire a certain type of silence in me I slip into when my primary form of communication has switched channels from my mouth to my eyes. The content of the blog posts is equally as powerful, though. I am challenged, self-reflexive, or caught in a whirlwind of thought due to a new piece of information I am working to situate into my existing knowledge pool. If you get the chance, please take the time to check it out.

For my error this week, I chose a subtle typo I found in an article from the Washington Post. The article discussed the danger of slippery slope arguments in the context of removing statues and other honoraries from individuals whose career was primarily racist, like confederate generals and such. The mistake says “who” instead of “whose” – a subtle missing conjugation.

  1. Wow great blog post. I really enjoyed reading this! I completely relate when you say "my primary form of communication has switch channels from my mouth to my eyes." I find this line to be liberating learning that I'm not the only one that this happens to. I skimmed over the blog "The Pursuit of Bravery" and thoroughly enjoyed reading the one about the interview with Lisa Eversgerd. I'll definitely be visiting the blog more often. Thanks!
